One person’s mission to get Americans to embrace science again. A profile of Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist and director of the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History…
I adore Neil deGrasse Tyson. I recall an interview he did with John Stewart where he talked about how the universe is expanding and will get to a point where it will stop expanding and everything will be far apart and completely still and that’s when everything will cease to function. Everything: Finis, kaput. John, flabbergasted, said something like, “But we live in the universe!” And then Neil said something like this and it has remained with me:
The elements that make up life, are also the elements that make up the universe, and are traceable in the stars. So we should always remember: The universe is in us.
THE UNIVERSE IS IN US.
